Silk

Availability: In Stock

The SILK non-absorbable knitted surgical suture can generally be used to fill, hold in contact and/or converge soft tissues but its use is not indicated for tissues of the central cardiovascular and central nervous system. The application of the non-absorbable SILK surgical suture initially causes a slight inflammatory reaction of the tissues,
characteristic of the reaction to a foreign body followed by gradual formation of a capsule of connective tissue around the suture. Although metaxas sutures are not absorbed, they undergo gradual hydrolysis in vivo resulting in a complete loss of strength.
